The bane of our society is ignorance. Worse still are men and women who claim to know what they don’t know. The problem of the majority is that they have limited knowledge, yet they feel that they have known it all.
For instance, some years ago, I was in the house of one professor of Banking and Finance when suddenly the light in his house went off. The Professor, the building of his next neighbor has full light but only his house.
The Professor didn’t know what to do, so he called one boy living in that area that is working with the electricity company. The boy he called did not finish his secondary education while he is a Professor.
The boy came and traced the fault to a cut of the main fuse that supplied light to his house which he replaced and the light to his house was back fully.
If the Professor out of pride had not consulted the boy, he would have been without light as he didn’t know what to do to restore his light. He has no knowledge of the workings of electricity even though he was a professor…
Bringing the lesson here home, we don’t have the general knowledge of everything, but what we have is limited knowledge that may not be relevant to certain issues at stake?
In other words, if the knowledge you have is not relevant to the solutions of the issues at stake, it means that you are ignorant of that issue whether you accept it or not.
Another instance, why do we go to hospitals? We go to hospitals irrespective of our status because we believe in doctors to take care of our medical challenges.
We take action to remedy the areas we feel that we have insufficient or limited knowledge, and we get the solution to our problems.
The bible said in Proverbs 4:7c And wisdom is said to be the right application of knowledge.
Irrespective of whom you are, the knowledge must be the right knowledge as you cannot get wisdom from the right application of irrelevant knowledge.
What I am trying to bring out is that we all have adequate knowledge in some areas but limited knowledge in another area. That is why you see a professor of mathematics but runs to a dentist if he has a persistent toothache.
Specifically what I am saying is that you need to know the areas you have sufficient knowledge and the areas you have limited knowledge and should never claim to know what you don’t know.
Having said that, one area I want you to really pay attention to and should not allow the devil to cheat you is the area of spiritual knowledge. We all have some limitations with respect to spiritual knowledge.
2Chronocles 26:5 He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.
The above reference was talking about Uzziah and Zechariah, Uzziah was made King when he was only Sixteen years old while Zechariah was the prophet of God.
As it was said above, from the age of sixteen years of age, Uzziah reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem.
Uzziah succeeded in his reign because he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.
What I am trying to bring out is that no matter who you are and your status, the matter of Spiritual knowledge, you should not claim to know what you don’t know.
That is to say that there are others more gifted in Spiritual knowledge more than you are. In other words, you should be humble enough to consult them with respect to Spiritual matters.
The Almighty God pointed out something in Jeremiah 3:15 “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
A look at the above reference, it is obvious that there are certain Spiritual knowledge and understanding that God deposited in pastors.
For that reason, you may never get such spiritual knowledge except or unless you allow such pastors to feed you with such knowledge and understanding.
Even if you are a professor, God can use an illiterate pastor to feed you with spiritual knowledge and understanding just as it was a secondary school drop out that helped to restore the light of a professor.
Having said that, please don’t neglect or despise the Pastors God may have placed over you as to feed you with knowledge and understanding.
If you despise a pastor as a result of pride in your status in the society, you may miss out on certain Spiritual matters. Shalom!
