Prophet Isaiah said something very crucial in Isaiah 60:1. In that bible passage, Isaiah said that we should arise and shine, for our light has come. We will only arise and then shine as a result of our light coming.
In other words, according to Isaiah 60:1, our rising and shining is a function of the coming of our light. Nothing or no man can ever shine without the light, and that is the reason it is said that the glory and power of darkness are a result of the absence of light.
Whenever there is light, darkness automatically vanishes away, and it is the absence of light that gives darkness the free hand to operate. So it is our responsibility to arise and then shine as we imbibe plenty of light.
When we talk about the light here, we are referring to the illumination of our spirit man or spiritual knowledge as against intellectual knowledge and understanding. Many people acquire intellectual knowledge but are totally ignorant of spiritual knowledge.
Those with intellectual knowledge, but lack spiritual knowledge still can’t see far, and some still walk in darkness. It is when our spiritual knowledge gets illuminated that we can arise and then shine.
It is for that reason that it is said that how far a man can go is a function of how far he can see. That means that darkness is a limiting factor for us, as we can never go far in any area of our life beyond our knowledge in that area.
Moreover, there are levels of intensity of light available, meaning that there are levels of shining. The level of intensity of light we have signals how far darkness will be from us. Practically, it is trying to drive a vehicle at night that shows more the overall value or power of light and the power of darkness.
If for instance you are driving a limousine, but the headlamp is faulty, you can never drive far at night and a tricycle with a sharp headlamp could even drive faster than you. That is the reason many people with intellectual knowledge, but lack spiritual knowledge, still end up doing foolish things.
In addition, and as said earlier, it is the absence of light that empowers darkness. According to Isaiah 60:2, says, “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people.
It is as a result of the darkness and gross darkness that covers the earth and the people that provokes the LORD to arise upon His people, and that equally provokes his glory to be seen upon His people.
The LORD will never arise upon us, nor his glory seen upon us, if we fail or if we lack adequate light of the scripture. In other words, if we lack spiritual knowledge and understanding. To rise and shine is a function of adequate light coming upon us, and we cannot arise and shine unless our light has come.
It is when the light comes upon us, that we will rise and shine and what amplifies our shining is the Lord risen upon us which makes his glory to be seen in us. The difference in any man’s life, therefore, is the presence of God and when God is present, his glory equally is seen upon us.
Having said that, to be ignorant, therefore, is the same as walking in darkness, and when we acquire knowledge, especially spiritual knowledge, the light shines upon our way. Acquiring knowledge is therefore our personal responsibility.
As said earlier, the level of knowledge, especially spiritual knowledge, we have either propels how far we can go in life as ignorance limits our upward movement in life in the first place. It is for that reason that Proverbs 4:7 admonished us, saying, “Wisdom is the wonder principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”.
Please, our main emphasis is on the LORD rising upon us and His glory seeing upon us. The greatest difference we will make in life is to provoke the presence of the Lord upon us that, will, in turn, cause His glory to be seen upon us.
It is for that reason that the devil and his agents try to keep us in spiritual darkness (spiritual ignorance) and as well as manipulate us to do things that sever our relationship with God. This is to prevent the presence of God in our lives.
Without the presence of God in us, His glory would never be seen in us. And the pleasure of sin, especially $exual pleasures of sin, is what he uses mostly to achieve his purpose.
No wonder what is reigning in our society, especially social media are entertainments, especially what promotes $exual entertainment. I remembered years ago receiving an email of someone complaining that the reason he doesn’t like destiny moulders’ website is that it is not $exy or entertaining.
I wrote back to inform him that I am not an entertainer and will never be an entertainer, which I have no apology for it. The reason is that the mandate I have is to provide information on the site that can help mould our destiny, which entertainments are not part of it.
What I am trying to bring out is that you should ask yourself if $exual pleasures and other entertainments have added anything to your destiny? Rather, they have only caused a reduction in our destiny.
Having said that, we should put on one hand the presence of God in our lives that propel his glory rising upon us on one hand and on the other hand. And illicit $exual pleasures of sin and other sinful entertainments, and then choose the one we desire.
The two are opposed to each other and no one can have the two since it is either one accepts one or rejects the other. It is therefore foolishness of some so-called men of God who indulge the pleasures of sin, yet expect to see the manifestation of the glory of God in their life and ministry.
To this end, the ball is in your court to decide and decide between the two. As for me, I desire to see the glory of God be seen in me. Shalom!
