This is the second part of our discourse on the topic “being totally set free indeed by the truth” Please ensure that you have read the part one for a better understanding. GO HERE to read the part one.
We ended the part one by looking at Bishop David Oyedepo’s illustration about the Boy’s Scout making camp in a thick forest where wild and dangerous beasts dwells.
According to Bishop David Oyedepo and this is a fact, the Boy’s Scout before they make camp in a thick forest; they always gather a large quantity of dry fire wood which they used to make a burn fire.
The burn fire burns throughout the night as there is a continuous adding of fire woods by campers; They will never allow the fire to go out otherwise they could be in danger of the wild beasts that could attack them if the fire happen to go out.
However, as long as the burn fire is on, every wild beast will stay clear from that area. In fact, all the wild beasts will run away for their dear lives.
Bishop David Oyedepo liked the Boy’s Scout burn fire as our spirit man. As long as our spirit man is on fire all the time, all the wild beasts, referring to demons will stay clear from us, and will never be in position to attack or afflict us with any sickness.
However, the reason there is constant attack of the devil (demons) that attack or afflict us is because our spirit man is very cold, been clouded by irrelevances that are not relevant to our spiritual lives.
It is therefore necessary that we consciously go for the knowledge of the truth. Specifically, God promised to us in Jeremiah 3:15 to give to us pastors that will feed uis with knowledge and understanding. “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”.
We must therefore ensure that we don’t reject or despise pastors that God has placed over us to feed us with knowledge and understanding”.
I said this because some people despise or hate some pastors, yet such pastors may be the one God had appointed to feed us with knowledge and understanding.
Some people are like Ahab the king of Israel as recorded in 1 King 22:1-38. Specifically, our focal verses is on 1 King 22:7-8 which says, “And Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of Him?”
So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
In the above story, despite that prophet Micaiah hold the truth which Ahad needed to survive, he preferred to here from false prophets that only tell him only what his ears want to hear.
As seen in 1 King 22:7, When Jehoshaphat requested Ahab to consult a prophet of the LORD saying, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of Him?”
In verse 8, Ahab the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.
Yes, in this kingdom, some people are like Ahab, they hate some true men of God, yet such men of God hold the key to their freedom and destiny.
By criticizing such men of God, who they hate and despise thereby rejecting their God’s ordained messages, they lost out from knowing the mind of God concerning their situation.
There is another situation here as seen in Acts 8:27-31. In that passage, the Ethiopia eunuch was religious, yet he lacks the knowledge of the truth about salvation.
As seen in verse 30, the Ethiopia eunuch was sitting in his chariot and was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
The Ethiopia eunuch would have lost out in grabbing the truth about salvation had he not acknowledged his ignorance “and he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.
Like the Ethiopia eunuch, definitely there are a situation we need to invite some pastors to guide us. Refusal to invite some pastors to guide us is the reason some have lost out in life.
NOTE: In as much as I advocate inviting some men of God to guide us in getting the truth we need for our freedom, caution must be applied to ensure that such are true or genuine men of God.
I said this because there are men and women who claim to be men and women of God, yet they lack themselves the knowledge of the truth that sets us free. Such men of God will surely end up deceiving us.
This is the end of the part two, please keep date with us as we will continue in the third part next. Shalom
