Have you ever come across any of the videos of Sunday Adelaja where he was ranting? The messages of Sunday Adelaja or DSA as he is fondly called are messages you should extremely be careful about.
Reasons you should really need to be careful about the said Sunday Adeleja is that, as a drowning man, he is trying to hold anything that comes his way just to stay afloat. But obviously, he may end up getting drowned and with unfortunate victims.
Sunday Adeleja, after he lost his church as a result of various scandals, everything he is currently doing is to still remain relevant among the Christian community using his past glory.
For that reason, he often picks on any messages of other men of God, especially Bishop David Oyedepo because he knew that lots of people will like to view or hear his ranting about Oyedepo. He is only seeking attention and relevancy.
In this segment of our study, we shall be looking at one of the DSA’s videos ranting captioned, “I Am Totally Pissed Off: Bishop Oyedepo is destroying The Christian Faith” – Sunday Adelaja
Based on Sunday Adeleja’s statement, I wish to ask, between Bishop David Oyedepo and Sunday Adelaja who is actually destroying the Christian faith?
It is Sunday Adeleja of course. Sunday Adeleja, because he is gifted with charisma and oratory, he dabbled into ministry in the name of God calling him into ministry. From the time he started the so-called ministry, he was only preaching motivational messages and not the real gospel messages.
It was for that reason that on the 28th December 2008, the nine members and leaders of evangelical churches in Ukraine signed a statement in which they, among other things, dissociated themselves from Sunday Adelaja and his activity.
They accused him of trying to create a cult of personality, and accuse him of using methods and activity based on self-advertisement, exaggeration of personal merits, teaching the doctrine of prosperity and the sin of love of money, and his practice of cursing the church members and parishioners who disagree with his opinion.
I don’t want to go into details of his various scandals but will only concentrate on how Sunday Adelaja is the person destroying the Christian faith and not Oyedepio as accusing.
First, I want us to consider the gospel which Jesus himself started and preached about. Please see Mark 1:14-15 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,” And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel”.
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he gave us what is called the Great Commission, saying in Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned.
However, Sunday Adeleja who calls himself a man of God never pays attention to the salvation of souls. In fact, both when he was running a church and his ministration elsewhere, he never made an altar call so no one gets saved in his ministry.
The reason was that it is only the real gospel messages that convert people and not motivational messages, Sunday Adeleja was preaching. So to avoid the embarrassment of people yielding to altar calls, he totally avoided making an altar call.
When he was confronted on the matter, he defended his action by saying that “Altar Call Is Not Biblical”. And secondly, that “There Is No Need For Altar Calls In Christianity”.
WHEN he was confronted with how will sinners get to say sinners’ prayers and get born again? He went further to claim that “Sinner’s Prayer Is Not Scriptural”.
Apart from his instance on the gospel and salvation of souls, he equally tries to point people’s faith away from God. You can see instances of this in his teachings:
One instance was his false message which is captioned, “why you don’t need God to successful”. While The second message was captioned, Anti-Religion: You Don’t Need To Believe In God To Be Successful On Earth.
Not only that, he equally declared boldly that it is only fools & the mediocre that believe more in God than in themselves, In other words, he is pointing faith of people more on self.
In fact, the false utterances of Sunday Adelaja, it is unimaginable that it came out of the mouth of a supposed man that called himself a man of God. DSA equally taught in a video captioned, “why you don’t need the church”. And that “You Don’t Need To Belong To A Church To Fulfill God’s Will For Your Life”
“You don’t need the church to approach GOD” There are many such messages of Sunday Adeleja, which will point to the fact that it is Sunday Adelaja that is destroying Christian faith and not Bishop Oeyedepo as DSA was accusing him.
Bishop Oyedepo does not preach or teach anything that contradicts the bible, but only DSA that is teaching issues that out-rightly contradicts the bible. If you get distracted and deceived by DSA, where is your sense of reasoning? Shalom!
