In the Bible, in the book of John 8:32, Jesus himself made a very important point, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. It is the truth you know that sets you free not the one you don’t know. In other words, knowledge of the truth is vital if you are ever to be free.
In our society today, one of the things bedeviling even the church of GOD is ignorance, not knowing the truth. Psalm 82:5-7 described it this way, “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes”.
GOD equally lamented in the Book of Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”.
From the above scripture, one of the reasons why the people of GOD don’t know the truth is because many of the messengers of GOD are running without a true message or with false messages. Because some of these messengers had rejected knowledge, GOD said that HE will also reject them from being a priest to HIM.
According to Jeremiah 2:8, GOD also lamented, “The priests said not, where is the LORD? And they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked after things that do not profit”
Jeremiah27:15 “For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.
In other words, there are so many selves proclaimed prophets and pastors today in our churches, because they have no personal encounter with Jesus, they are going about serving themselves instead of serving GOD. “And they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me”.
One of the ways they are transgressing against GOD is that they are going about misleading the people of GOD. “And they that handle the law knew me not” because they don’t know God or the spiritual knowledge of what they teach, they end up misleading the people of GOD.
Worthy to mention is the case of one Kenyan pastor who ordered all female members to go to the church without any underwear for Christ to enter their lives. See http://bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-sc-religion-byo-43603.html
That teaching definitely is never from GOD.
Remember God’s warning in Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Revelation 2:20 “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols”
Also in the news was the case of a South African Pastor Lesego Daniel made news after telling his congregation to eat grass. He’s now persuaded them to drink petrol at his Pretoria ministry.
The preacher told his flock the petrol had been turned to pineapple juice. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2794275/first-congregation-eating-grass-make-close-god-controversial-south-african-preacher-makes-flock-drink-petrol.html
God definitely promised to give us pastors after his heart but not the kind of the two pastors mentioned above. Jeremiah 3:15 “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”
A true messenger of GOD will never have the mind to mislead the people of GOD entrusted to their care, Jeremiah 10:21 “For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered”.
Moreover, God pronounced woe unto the pastors Jeremiah 23:1-2 “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD”
In conclusion, Mathew 7:15 warned us, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves”. Also, Jeremiah 29:9 “For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD”.
In other words, we should make the word of GOD the standard for our living. In essence, we should have a personal study of the Bible to know when any man of GOD no matter highly placed is misleading us.
Moreover, we need a discerning spirit to know the teachings from GOD and if you say you are a messenger of GOD, seek to have a personal encounter with GOD and never teach what you yourself don’t understand so as not to mislead the people of GOD.
