According to a legend and the apostle of faith, Bishop David Oyedepo, people are celebrating their arrogance by claiming to know what they don’t know.
Moreover, it is ignorant to assume or think to know what does not show. In view of this, I personally decided to restrain myself from arguing with anybody about certain mysteries of the kingdom.
One such mystery that most people are ignorant of is the mystery of the tithe or tithing. Rather, I try to guide anyone who cares to understand this kingdom’s mystery to gain true knowledge and understanding about this kingdom’s mystery.
It is for this reason that this crucial question is begging for an answer from you, the question is “do you have a good knowledge and understanding of the mystery of the tithe or tithing?
The bane and tragedy of Christianity today is ignorance of kingdom mysteries of the highest order. Worse still are ignorant people, who claim to know what, they never have knowledge of.
I said it is a tragedy in the sense that Christ said in Luke 8:10 that it has been given to us to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, yet some people choose to wallow in ignorance even though they assume or claim to know what they don’t know.
One of the kingdom mysteries that some believers, even most men of God or pastors, are ignorant of is the mystery of the tithe or tithing. It is for that reason that the issue of tithing seems to be one of the greatest issues of debate controversies.
It is highly unfortunate that some genuine men of God who ought to know better are as well ignorant of it. Furthermore, it is not surprising that some men of God preach against paying tithe while others preach in favor of tithing.
One of the genuine and highly anointed pastors I respected, but who is preaching against this mystery, is pastor Abel Damina. Does his preaching against tithing make him a false teacher? Of course not.
The major problem with Pastor Abel Damina and other pastors preaching against tithing is the result of their limited understanding of this mystery.
Talking about pastor Abel Damina, his utterance against tithing is similar to the action of Apollos as seen in Acts 18:24-26 which says, “Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.
This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.
So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. NK JV
Pastor Abel Damina is a genuine and anointed man of God. However, all his utterances about tithe or tithing are based on his limited knowledge of this mystery.
Like Apollos, he is a powerful speaker, but if he will accept to go to be guided correctly by other ministers of God that have true knowledge and understanding about tithing, he could gain adequate knowledge that could help him in his ministry.
Pastor Abel Damina like Apollos needs to be instructed in the way of the Lord as well, even though he is being fervent in spirit. As such, he preaches and taught accurately the things of the Lord, but he still has limited knowledge and understanding of the subject of the mystery of tithing.
Listening to his utterances about tithe is similar to allowing a professor of medicine, a general surgeon, to carry out an operation to correct your eye problems.
Eventually, you could end up getting blind not because the professor has no knowledge and understanding of medicine, but because he is engaging in an operation in the field where he has limited knowledge and understanding.
Eye surgery is best left for opticians and not a general surgeon unless you wish to go blind to allow a general surgeon to carry out the surgery.
Secondly, listening to a man with a limited understanding of a certain subject is like engaging a literature in English teacher to teach chemistry or physics to your child and expect your child to pass his/her chemistry or physics subject exams.
Is that not true of yourself, you are not paying tithe because pastors with limited knowledge and understanding had thought you wrongly about this mystery of the tithe or tithing. Of course, your action will surely be different if you gain adequate and true knowledge of the mystery.
It is obvious, anything you are ignorant of can never be beneficial to you. It is for that reason that you are not paying tithe, and therefore denying yourself the full benefits of tithing.
When you have good or true knowledge and understanding about the mystery of tithing, no human being or any pastor can misguide you otherwise.
We will get to explore the good and true knowledge and understanding about tithe or tithing in our next post. If you wish therefore to gain a good understanding of tithing, then be my guest for part two of this post. Shalom!
