Enoch was a man, and the book of Hebrew 11:5 gave a wonderful testimony about him. The testimony was that he pleased God.
According to that verse, as a result of his pleasing God was that he was taken away to heaven without seeing death. In other words, God took Enoch away to heaven without seeing death.
Yes, Enoch’s testimony was that he pleased God. How many of our life and actions are pleasing to God? Because Enoch pleased God, he became the first person that did not see death before being taken up to heaven.
What God did for Enoch, has been taken away to heaven without seeing death, shows God definitely recognizes and rewards those that pleased Him. We can even confirm that with our earthly parents. When our life and actions pleased them, we got all we desired from them.
Also, some of us that are parents, often, we see how a child or children whose life and actions are pleasing to us, how we tend to give them all that they want or desire from us.
Before we can think of pleasing God, we must first and foremost have a personal relationship with God. By so doing, God recognizes us as his children.
As children of God, we must then resolve to live for God and not for ourselves, satisfying the flesh. For your information, the devil fights to see that it doesn’t happen, as he fights to see that we don’t please God.
God is not a man, before we can ever think of pleasing him, we must note what John 4:24 said. The verse says that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”.
That is to say, we must be spiritual or spiritually minded before we can think of pleasing God, as can also see in Romans 8:6. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
That shows that there are certain conditions must be met before we can think of pleasing God. For that reason, the book of Romans 8:5b says, we must live according to the Spirit and set our mind in the things of the Spirit.
This is so because those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. The book of Romans 8:8 summarized by saying, So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
As said earlier, since our pleasing God starts with the state of our spirituality, the highly spiritual we are, the closer we are to God. So the devil fights to see that we are not spiritual.
In other words, the greatest fight of the devil is to ensure that we are in the flesh and not in the spirit as he knows that those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
No wonder he uses pleasures, especially $exual pleasures, to keep or prevent men and women from living in the spirit. As long as one is not in the spirit, automatically the person will be in the flesh.
It is for that reason that Apostle Paul admonished us in Galatians 5:16 saying, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”
To this end, to me, it seems that the greatest battle we face in our effort to please God is the battle against our flesh, how to conquer the flesh.
Any man or woman who fails to conquer his or her flash can never live and grow in spirit. We should put ourselves on a scale, are we conquering our flesh, or is our flesh conquering us?
. Listening to the voice of our innermost being, we desire to please God, but our flesh resists as it seeks and desired to be satisfied at all times.
It should not then surprise you why even men and women of God are falling like a pack of cards as they are victims and casualties as they are being conquered by their flesh.
If then we wish to please God, which I know you do, then we must resolve to deal with or fight our flesh to a standstill. Please, this is a personal battle, as no other person will fight it for us.
I am not saying that it is an easy battle, as even the Angels of God were corrupted by Mr. Flesh, which led to the destruction of the world of Noah.
We can see the record in Genesis 6:1-7. Specifically, verse one says, Now it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
What then are the ways forward, should we surrender and allow Mr. Flesh to have his way and conquer us? Not at all, rather we need to heed the advice of Paul in Romans 8:13. In Romans 8:13, Paul said, for if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Also in Galatians 5:16 Paul equally admonished us saying, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Once we resolve to pay whatever price necessary, to walk in the Spirit, it will be easy for us to conquer Mr. Flesh. Will you do that? Shalom!
