Solomon, who was said to be the wisest man that ever lived, wrote said this about wisdom in the book of Proverbs 3:19. That verse said, “the LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens”.
Also, in Proverbs 4:7 Solomon said, “ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. In addition, he equally said in proverbs 24:3 saying, “Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established”
Equally, the book of Ecclesiastes 7:11-12 says, ” wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it, there is profit to them that see the sun. For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Besides, Proverbs 8:11-14 equally says, “for wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. Proverb 9:1 and Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
Having seen a few things that are said of wisdom, it is necessary to point out that the wisdom referred to here is divine wisdom of God, wisdom from above as compared to worldly wisdom.
The apostle James said something in James 3:13- 15 about this kind of wisdom, saying, “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
From what Apostle James is saying, any wisdom that descendeth not from above is therefore earthly, sensual, devilish. That is to show us that worldly intellectual knowledge and understanding is not divine wisdom from above.
How do we access this wisdom from above? The writer of Psalms says in Psalms 111:10 saying, “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding has all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever.
Solomon equally said in Ecclesiastes 2:26 where he says, “God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to anyone who pleases him. But to the person who continues to sin, he gives the job of gathering and collecting wealth. The sinner must turn his wealth over to the person who pleases God.
We shall then see some practical instances in the Bible to prove that divine wisdom, wisdom from above, comes from God. The first example is Solomon, and we can see the record n 1 King 4:29 which says, “God gave Solomon abundant wisdom and understanding, and very great understanding, even as the sand that is on the seashore.
The second persons are the four Hebrew children, and we can see the record in Daniel 1:17 and 20 which says, “as for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.
In addition, the book of Exodus 31:1-5 recorded the man by the name Bezalel. That verse says, “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. NKJV
Exodus 35:30-33 says, “And Moses said to the children of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and He has filled him with the Spirit of God,
In wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship,
to design, artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.
How we can access this wisdom of God:1 Kings 3:3-5 gave us the record of how Solomon accessed the wisdom of God. That verse says, “Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the statutes of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
As for the four Hebrew Children, the book of Daniel says, “but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
The next step to access the wisdom of God is by a higher man of Good laying a hand on us to impact on us the wisdom of God. We can see instances of what happened in Deuteronomy 34:9.
The above verse says, “and Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses. Shalom!.
