What do you think influenced Solomon to make the statement he made in Ecclesiastes 12:1, which says “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”?
But then I realized that there are many regrets of some old men who came to know God in their old age. When they looked back to yesteryear, they start to regret that they wasted their youthful age, which they would have used to serve God.
Others are regretting that what they are suffering in their old age is the mistakes they made when they were young, even though they never accepted that they were wrong at the time when they were doing those things.
In this segment of our study, we shall be exploring some life great mistakes of all ages that we should learn to avoid unless we will end up regretting as well at a later age.
The first of such mistakes of all ages as earlier mentioned is not remembering our God in our youth. For that reason, those who failed to remember their God, especially in their youth, whose lifestyles are only for self and are indulging in sinful pleasures.
Such people, only live for pleasure in their youth until they have wasted their lives. You always see such people living false lifestyles of fantasies as they seem to be mocking God with their lifestyle until their youthful age and life are wasted.
One other great life mistake some are making, both young and old, is romancing with our mortal enemy whose mission is aimed at destroying us. The devil is our mortal enemy, but he tries to provide us with sinful pleasures, mostly $exual pleasures, which many never knew are traps to destroy our souls.
Apostle Paul rightly put it this way in 2 Corinthians 2:11 where he says, “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices”.
For that reason, some people are ignorant of the devices of the devil, because they never knew that the so-called enjoyment is aimed at destroying their souls, and they are busy romancing with him and his sinful pleasures.
Another great life mistake of all ages is walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the path of sinners, and as well as sitting in the seat of the scornful, which Psalm 1:1 warned us against.
The book of Psalms 1:1 puts it this way, saying, Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
In today’s world of social media, some people never realize that they are foolishly following the counsel of the ungodly when they follow the counsel of some celebrities who had sold their souls to the devil. Most of these celebrities we are following their counsels or imitating are only carrying out the mission of their master, the devil.
Many destinies have been pushed into the gutter simply as a result of following the counsel of the ungodly. The same equally happens to those who are standing in the path of sinners, and as well as sitting in the seat of the scornful;
That leads us to the next mistake of all ages, which is stopping our journey in life because we are following another man that is going nowhere or without any definite destination in mind.
While writing this article, I remembered the message of one man of God who said that he learned a bitter lesson in life never to follow another man that is going nowhere or without a definite destination.
According to that man of God, he said that he arrived at the airport by 8:00 am for a flight to one foreign country scheduled to depart by 9:00 am.
However, he met an old university friend of his, and they sat at the local wing of the airport where they chatted for over an hour. It was at about 10:45 that his friend had a call and decided to leave.
It was at that time the pastor remembered to ask the friend which country he was going to. To his shock, the friend told him that he was going nowhere but was at the airport to pick up his uncle who arrived from America.
It was then that the pastor realizing that his friend was not traveling ran to the international wing of the airport to complain why the delay in the departure of the flight going to Japan.
The airport official then asked him where he was when his flight was called several times, that he was late, as the flight actually took off by 9:30 after a 30-minute delay and that the next flight to that country will be in 2 days’ time.
This life story is to show you the great mistake of following another man who is going nowhere, who has no intention of arriving at any definite destination. Such is the situation of following someone who has no mission of going to heaven with you.
Finally, I wish equally to say that in this kingdom today, some Christians are guilty of some of these mistakes. One of such mistakes, that is rampant today, which I mentioned earlier is walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the path of sinners, and as well as sitting in the seat of the scornful;
Some may never realize that they are walking in the counsel of the ungodly when they allow the opinion of the ungodly whose intention is to influence their actions and decisions in life.
Today, some people have no personal opinion themselves, but are sheepishly following the opinion of others who are mostly ungodly. For instance, some daughters of Jezebel and men with reprobate minds conspire to rubbish some men of God and some believe their false stories.
I ask you, the stories you hear and believe about some men and women of God, do you take time to confirm that they are true or not? That is equally the way many believe false information about their destiny helpers.
Please ensure that any information on which you base your decisions and actions is not the counsel of the ungodly. That is the reason the Bible said that every man should be persuaded in life.
In view of this, therefore, we should learn to form our own personal opinion on any issue rather than foolishly following the unconfirmed opinion of others. Shalom!
