This is the second part of our discussion on the topic “by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for god to lie” I hope that you have read the part one for a better understanding? Please GO HERE to read part one.
In this second part of our discussion, It is still my prayer that your eyes of understanding about the mystery of tithing could be opened through reading this post as my own eyes of understanding was opened some years ago, in the year 1994 to be precise.
I am talking with experience because I was before that year 1994 equally be struggling with the issue of paying tithe, not until my eyes of understanding got opened in 1994.
That particular year 1994, I had the opportunity to travel from the city where I reside to Raji Oba in Lagos to attend the one-month Bible School organized by Winners Chapel “Words Of Faith Bible Institute” April Special to be precise.
During the Bible School, I equally had the privilege and opportunity to sit under Bishop David Oyedepo expound the word of God as he handled some courses for us. One of such courses precisely was titled “the mystery of Faith”
During that course, Oyedepo explained to us that faith is of the heart and not the head. He further explained to us that faith has to do with our strong trust and confidence in God. It is this strong trust and confidence that gets God in turn to be committed to our cause.
He further urged or challenged us, saying that it is our proving God that give us more trust and confidence in God. We prove God in any area of our lives when our eyes of understanding get opened in that area of our lives.
For instance, regarding our health, if we are sick, and we proved God that he is a healer, sickness will no longer have any hold on us.
In other words, when we prove God with our health, the issue of struggling with sickness and every demonic oppression will be over, and we will be enjoying divine health.
Coming to proving God with respect to our finances, which is the bone of contention in the lives of many people. It was then that bishop David Oyedepo read for us Malachi 3:10 urging us that it is with respect to tithe and offering that God specifically asked us to prove him now herewith.
He finally told us that there is nothing we can say about tithe and offering whether good or bad that could hold any water unless we ha unequivocally and individually proved God.
It is when we might have proved God that we will come to realize that tithe and offering is not a financial expense but a kingdom investment. It is because of people’s ignorance, even pastors who had not proved God that sees tithe as financial expenses or financial obligation members owes to their churches.
No wonder Winners Chapel which had understanding of the mystery of tithe never see tithe as an expense but as an investment, that is why you always hear them talk about kingdom investment.
As said, it is my prayer that your eyes of understanding to be opened so that you stop seeing tithe as an expense but as a kingdom investment with sure and high rate of return, both now and in the future.
As said earlier, it is ignorance that causes some pastors to regard tithe as a financial obligation members owe to their churches. That is the major reason you always see or hear pastors coarse their members as to part with their incomes in the name of paying tithe.
While writing this article, God proved what I am saying with a practical proof by my receiving a credit alert from my bank. While thinking or considering that my account may have been wrongly credited.
However, when I looked closely on the details of the credit alert, I observed that it was a dividend that Zenith Bank paid me for the amount I investment I invested in Zenith Bank some years ago I had totally forgotten.
In other words, some years ago, I invested some amount of money in Zenith Bank having bought some shares when Zenith Bank made a public offer of their shares. I invested in Zenith Bank simply because I trusted Jim Ovia the MD and the CEO of Zenith Bank then.
Since I trusted that the bank will not fail but rather would be paying me dividend. But why should I not trust God to make good his promise of rebuking the devourer in addition to opening for me the windows of heaven?
I asked myself what, if I had used that amount of money I had invested and used it to buy suits for myself, or to buy foods and drinks? These are all expenses, and i would have forgotten about the amount I spent buying the suits.
What i am trying to point out is that expenses does not yield any returns, but only investments does. So pastors telling you not to pay tithe are simply telling you not to invest in the kingdom and without an investment no returns.
On the other hands, pastors that had knowledge and understanding about the mystery of tithe are the number one payer of tithe and they never coarse their members to pay tithe or give offerings.
Some people that equally had knowledge and understanding about the mystery of tithe are always on the look-out and ensures that they pay their tithe faithfully. In fact, there are some that goes beyond paying only 10 percent to up to 50 percent.
Please, I am not advocating paying beyond 10 percent unless you have the understanding or and it is your agreement with God to do so.
Personally, I don’t pay more than 10 percent, and I am committed to it. In fact there is something I have learned to do with my tithe, that is I made tithe the number one priority as I remove my tithe before any expenses.
I really hope that you have gotten one or two things from the post? If yes, why not share the post with your friends and followers on social media and other platforms.
