To live a fruitful Christian, we must consciously give heed and mindful of every one of our activities and lifestyle. The reason is to avoid creating the legal ground ourselves for the devil to attack or afflict us.
Obviously, the devil cannot succeed to attack or afflict us unless we create the legal grounds for him ourselves, which he will stand to successfully attack us. No wonder, Ecclesiastes 10:8 says, “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him”.
We can see that from what happened to Job as seen in Job 1:10. In Job 1:10Satan, Satan accused God of putting a hedge around Job.
In that verse, the devil said to God, “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land”. (NIV)
The question that readily comes to mind is “how did the devil know that God had put a hedge all around Job”? It was because the devil had tried many times to penetrate in order to attack Job, but each time he met a hedge around Job.
In the same way, as believers, who have a personal relationship with God, God had equally put hedge all around us that the devil could not penetrate as to attack us.
However, what the devil does often was to use deception to deceive us into breaking the hedge ourselves. It is when the hedge over us is broken that he capitalizes on it to attack and afflict us.
Like the case of Job, it was when the hedge around him and his family was broken that the devil could succeed to attack and rain havoc against Job and his family.
It is likely, the devil used fear which is one of the great enemies of faith to break Job’s hedge over his life and family. Please see Job 3:25.
According to the Job in Job 3:25, he said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me”. (KJV)
Talking about fear, I wish to point out that Job is not alone, often, we unnecessarily allow fear to paralyze our faith. This is not to be so because 2 Tim 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (NKJV)
Once the devil succeeds to paralyze our faith through fear, this may even lead to faith failure and faith failure is destiny failure. As he causes our faith to fail, it means a total breakage of every hedge over us thereby allowing the devil the free hand to attack us successfully.
Moreover, another way we allow the devil to deceive us into creating the legal ground, which eventually gives the devil access into our lives, thereby breaking the hedge over our life is by allowing iniquity in our midst
Of course, nothing breaks the hedge over our lives more than sin(iniquity). Look at what Balam told Balak in Numbers 23:23 where he says, “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!” (KJV)
The reason Balam made that statement seen in verse 23 can be seen in verse 21 where he said, “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. Numbers 23:21 (KJV)
Balam told Balak that as long as there was no iniquity in Jacob, that God will not allow them to be cursed. He went further to advise him on how to iniquity in the midst of Israel.
The advice of Balam to Balak was implemented in Numbers 25:1-5. What happened in Numbers 25:1-5, the apostle Paul recollected when he warned us in 1 Cor 10:7-8.
In that passage, Paul warned us, saying “Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. (KJV)
The almighty God, who could allow Balam to curse Israel was because iniquity could not be beheld in the midst of Israel. However, Israel on their own introduced iniquity in their midst and God allowed in one day three and twenty thousand to be destroyed.
Bringing this home, many of us on our own end up creating the legal ground for the devil by doing exactly what the Israelites did. That is, we practice immorality of the highest order.
The devil knows how to use $exual pleasure to cause us to create the legal ground for him. Yes, we allow the devil access into our lives by often engaging in $exual pleasures.
It takes being conscious and mindful to avoid not creating the legal ground for the devil. The only way to escape this malady that has taken root even in the church of Christ is to be extremely cautious and mindful.
It is highly unfortunate that many so-called pastors are no longer cautious as they are freely engaging in $exual pleasures with their members.
Of a truth, $exual pleasures are one of the avenues the devil uses to cause us to create the legal ground for the devil is because we get defiled immediately we engage in $exual sins.
Look at what happened to Joshua the high priest in Zechariah 3:1 “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him”. (NIV)
The reason Satan was standing at his right side to accuse Joshua can be seen in Zechariah 3:3 “Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel”. (NIV)
In reality, the devil does everything to ensure that we are defiled with $exual sin in which he immediately clothes or dresses us in filthy garments.
The reason is that he knows that we cannot boldly approach or appear before God when we are defiled. At the same time, we create the legal ground for him to freely attack or afflicts us.
We need therefore to be conscious and mindful so that we don’t create the legal ground for the devil to freely attack or afflicts us. Shalom!
