If there is a time that this warning needs to be emphasized, it is now that youths, especially in our society, are doing exactly like some Israelites of old did, who abused, persecuted the prophets of God at will.
Some of these prophets were persecuted or even killed. In fact, the lives of these prophets during that period were at the mercy of their society at that time. Such happened over the years and no wonder Jesus while chiding the Pharisees in Luke 11:47 told them, “Woe to you, because you build tombs for the prophets, and it was your forefathers who killed them. NIV.
It was for that reason that during the time of prophet Elijah the Tishbite, the king of Israel at that time thought that it was business as usual in that in Kings 1:9-10 the king sent two captains with their company of fifty men each.
The captains were sent to arrest the prophet, Elijah. However, the captains with their fifty soldiers went up to Elijah, who was sitting on the top of a hill, and said to him, “Man of God, the king says, ‘Come down!'”
Elijah answered the captains, saying, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!”. Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captains and their fifty men. NIV
From the encounter above, unknown to the king, the prophet Elijah was not like other prophets before him as he refused to be arrested and possibly be killed by the instruction of the king. Rather, he called down fire and roasted 102 soldiers that went to arrest him.
Again, Elisha was equally a prophet of God that took over from Elijah. One faithful day, Elisha went up to Bethel and as he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him, saying, “Go on up you Bald head!”, “Go on up, you Bald head!”
Elisha grieved, he turned around, looked at them, and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. 2 Kings 2:23-24. NIV.
In our present-day or dispensation, some people, especially our youths are equally doing exactly like what the youths in Bethel did, hauling insults and mockery against some men/women of God and spiritual authorities.
These youths never knew that they were toiling with the tail of tigers, even though these men of God often behave like mumu by accepting all sorts of insults, rubbish, and false fabrications against them.
It seems that it was for that reason that some time ago, one lady comedian called Ada Jesus, thought that it was business as usual that she made viral videos in which she made some allegations against an anointed man of God by the name of prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje.
Of a truth, I am sure that if Ada Jesus ever knew that her utterances or allegations in those videos could end up costing her life, she would never have released the videos or made the allegations.
Prophet Odumeje like prophet Elisha, not willing to accept or endure the insult or allegations of Ada Jesus, he was grieved in the spirit that he opened his mouth and made some dangerous pronouncements against her.
Please I am not here to question whether the allegations of Ada Jesus were true or false as I am not God, neither am I here to question whether prophet Odumeje was right or wrong in making those dangerous pronouncements against here her.
Rather, what I am trying to bring out here is a warning, we should learn a bitter lesson from what happened to Ada Jesus that eventually lead to her death. I counsel you, never wait to be a casualty yourself before you learn as it can be too late for you as it was too late for Ada Jesus to make amends.
For the avoidance of doubt, the book of 2 Chronicles 36:16 gave us a stern warning saying, “ But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy. NK JV
What I am trying to point out is that it could be dangerous for you to join to mock the prophets of God. It is not only the prophets of God, but any man/woman that is a spiritual authority.
I said this because there are some fetish doctors with evil altars that are backing them. It could as well be dangerous if you join to mock them or stands in their way. In other words, they can harm you if you stand in their way.
This is the end of part one of our discussion of the topic, we will continue our discussion next in part two. Please keep a date with us. Shalom!
