On October 2019, I read with delight the story about Cosy Orjiakor, of her being born again and now preaches the gospel of Christ. I thanked and praised God for her new find faith in Christ.
The news of her claim of being born again was received with mixed reactions from Nigerians, who knew her about her controversial and wayward dressing lifestyle.
Some web sites reported her being born again experience with mockery, as naijagist puts it “Cosy Orjiakor claims she is a born again.
Linda Ikeji reported it with video in an article captioned ”Apostle” Cossy Ojiakor preaches the bible to her followers in a cleavage-baring crop top and skimpy panties (video)
The essence of this post is not to question if she is really born again or not as only God is the judge. If she is really born again, give her time both her dressing and her character will surely change for better.
I wish to remind those saying that she can’t be born again that if Jesus accepted the armed rubber that was crucified with him dying on the cross, saying to him in Luke 23:43 “And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
God is so mysterious that he can save the worst of sinners and turn him/her to become saints which Paul was an example. Having said that, I wish to comment on what Cosy Orjiakor said to her followers.
According to her, she wrote: “Do you believe in Jesus Christ? If yes. Then ur born again….. don’t condemn urself…. God works in mysterious ways. Happy Sunday… Apostle Cossy.”
What Cosy said is correct in a way but not the whole bible truth. Yes, Jesus said in John 3: 17-19 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
“And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.
However, to be born again is the starting point because for one to enter the kingdom of God, the person must be born of water and the spirit.
Please see what Jesus said in John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. For emphasis, believing in the Lord Jesus is only one step to be born again, the person must be born of water and the spirit.
One can’t say that he/she is born again without repenting first. Believing in Jesus alone is not enough as even the devil believed in Jesus. To repent is to turn away from your old ways.
Moreover, after one is born again, He warned us that it is not only born again, in Luke 13:24 that we should, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
Luke 13:25-27 “When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’
“Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.'”But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
For the reason above, it is obvious that many people who claim to be born again will be highly disappointed in the last day.
In 1 Corinthians 3:11-15. Paul says, For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Talking to Cosy Orjiakor directly, if she is sincere about being born again, she should be careful about her dressing.
Like Paul says in 1 Corinthians 8:8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours becomes a stumbling block to those who are weak. In other words, Cosy, Orjiakor, you have the right to wear anything you like, but God will punish you if your dressing becomes a stumbling block to other Christians, to those who are weak.
Jesus was equivocal in His statement in Mather 18:7 “Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
Please read Romans 6:22 which says, “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Also, in 2 Corinthians 7:1, Paul encouraged us, “Having, therefore, these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Finally, he also warned us in Hebrew 12:14 which says, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
Cosy, being born again, God sees you as a saint; you should strive to glorify God in your dressing and stop dressing as if you are still a daughter of Jezebel. Shalom!
