In this life, God created us in his image and designed us to live a fruitful or a glorious life in his kingdom. However, the devil and his agents never want us to live this glorious life and therefore fights to restrain us from enjoying this glorious life.
To this end, some leave their lives to fate, accepting everything that comes their way and by their actions and inactions ended up being victims in life instead of being victors.
In other words, you need to answer this question, “Are you a victim or a victor in life?” We really need to ask and answer this question to ourselves. This is because what we do with our lives determines whether we will be victims or victors in life.
Obviously, there are people which by mere looking at them; you will see that they are nothing but victims in life as they received the greatest beatings of their lives and are battered in life. However, others refuse to be a victim but a victor in life by rejecting what fate throws at them.
It is said, no man is a failure or a victim of life until we begin to find or give reasons for our failures or we find somebody to blame for our failures. For that reason, if you confront some people who are victims in life they will marshal out for you thousand and one reasons while they did not make it in life.
As it were, each time I read about Nick Vujicic, I come to the conclusion that nothing in this life should serve as an excuse for someone to be a failure and a victim in life. http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/about-nick/bio/.
In the Bible, we shall see some examples of people who were born great, but ended up to be victims in life. One of such is Amnon as can be seen in 2 Samuel 13 the story of Amnon.
Amnon was one of the sons of King David, meaning that he was a prince, but could not fulfill his destiny, but lost his life because of his in inordinate affections and lusts, which caused him to rape his sister Tamar. He was a victim of life.
The problem with Amnon started because he had an inordinate affection for his sister Tamar. The same is true of many young men/women who are victims in life. Such men/women have inordinate affections, while some have an uncontrollable appetite for $ex which ended up making them victims in life.
So, if you don’t want to be a victim in life, you must control your emotion and never allow them to control you especially $exual urge. We can see example from what happened in India.
The Daily mail carried the news of “Father chops off the hands of a 17-year-old accused of raping his seven-month-old daughter in India” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3549603/Indian-dad-chops-hands-man-accused-raping-baby-daughter.html. That is to say the above young chap became a victim in life because he could not control his $exual emotions.
Another man who was a victim in life was Ahithophel as we can see the story in 2 Samuel 16. It was said of Ahithophel in 2Samuel 16:23 “And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom”.
But in 2Samuel 17:23 “And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died.
What made Ahithophel, to be a victim in life that he hanged himself was nothing but pride, just because his counsel was not accepted just for once, his pride made him go and hang himself.
In the same vein, most a time, we allow pride to get in our way of becoming victors in life. In other words, if you fail to deal ruthlessly with pride in your life, it could as well cause you to be a victim in life by destroying you.
Now let see examples of those who are victors in life, and the first of such is Joseph as can be seen in the Bible. The story of Joseph started in from Genesis chapter 37 till chapter 50.
One of the factors that made Joseph to be a victor in life was that he had a dream and he held tenaciously to that dream no matter all odds until the dream came true.
Secondly, he has the fear of GOD in him and that made him refuse the demand of his master’s wife to have affairs with her. He regarded having affairs with his master’s wife as a great wickedness and sin against God.
See verse 9 “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Until you resolve and dare to dream and hold on tenaciously to that dream as well as having a personal conviction to fear GOD as to live upright in all you do, you may be far from being a victor in life.
Again the story of Nick Vujicic as I mentioned earlier is a very good example of a person who refused to be a victim in life but a victor. Nick Vujicic was born without limbs but rose to surmount all obstacles in life and become a public figure that is well known all over the world. What is possibly your own excuse in life, why you will not be a victor in life?
Another good Bible example is Jephthah whose story can be seen in Judges Chapter 11. It was said to Jephthah in verse 1 of Judges Chapter 11. “Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah”.
From the story above of Jephthah, he was the son of a harlot, and the circumstance of his birth, ordinarily could make him accept to be a victim in life. But Jephthah refused to allow the circumstance of his birth to cause him to accept to be a victim of life.
Look at verse 2 of that chapter, “Gilead’s wife bore sons; and when his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out, and said to him, “You shall have no inheritance in our father’s house, and for you are the son of another woman.”
Jephthah was not allowed to partake of his father’s inheritance, yet he rose to be the king while none of his brother’s names were mentioned.
Like Jephthah, no matter the circumstances of your birth, even if you have no inheritance anywhere at all, if you will trade with the talent God has given you, you will surely come out to be a victor in life. Don’t be a victim, but strive to be a victor in life.
