You desire to prosper, aren’t you? Of course, you do, as I doubt if there is any man/woman whose heart’s desire is not to prosper. Yes, we all desire to prosper, but how many are actually and practically doing what engenders them to prosper?
This question is imperative because the majority of people have the heart’s desire to prosper, but are doing the opposite of what makes men prosper. I said it because there is, equally, there is a man that will best be described as a man with a reprobate mind. He is a man with a reprobate mind because he claims to be a pastor.
The said man goes by the name Dr. Sunday Adelaja or DSA as he is popularly called. The reason he is said to possess a reprobate mind is that he is teaching what is directly opposite to the Bible.
The caption or the title of this article is a statement from the Bible that takes from what one of the kings of Israel said, a king that knows God. He said in 2 Chronicles 20:20b, saying, “believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”NK JV
The above verse itemized ways to prosper in the kingdom. First, it says that we should believe in the LORD our God, so shall we be established. In other words, we need to be established in God before we expect to prosper.
Most people, stumbled upon prosperity, but it doesn’t last because they were never established in God. Any man, who wishes to enjoy true prosperity, must ensure that he is established in God.
Please, I am referring to Godly prosperity, not the worldly way that one can get, even if sacrificing another human being. I mean prosperity that comes as blessings from God. The blessing of the Lord, according to Proverbs 10:22 makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Secondly, King Jehoshaphat concluded by saying that in addition to believing in God, we should also believe his prophets, so shall we prosper. 2 Chronicles 20:20b. However, on the contrary, listen to Dr. Sunday Adelaja’s teachings, captioning one of the dangerous teachings, “why you don’t need God to be successful” Dr. Sunday, Adeleja’s second teaching was captioned, “anti-religion: you don’t need to believe in God to be successful on earth”
Another Bible portion that gave us an insight into what to do to prosper in this kingdom is what Job said in Job 36:11, where he said, “If they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.
From the words of Job, God has assured us of spending our days in prosperity, and our years in pleasure. However, one unfortunate issue is that most believers and non-believers alike are quick to claim the provision of the above verse.
I said the unfortunate issue because that portion is far from being a reality in the lives of believers because they failed to keep their own part of the bargain. The verse said that it is only “If we obey and serve Him” before his assurance of spending our days in prosperity, our years in pleasures.
That is to say, some are claiming the provision of the promise yet failed to obey and serve him. Some who claim to obey and serve him are doing so hypocritically. Serving God must not be hypocritical. But in spirit and truth as John 4:24 says, “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”.
Also, the book of Hebrew 12:28 equally said, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
If we actually wish to prosper, we should ensure that we serve God in truth and in spirit. Also, we need to have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Are you convinced that you are serving God in truth and in spirit, and we must as well serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear? Until that is done, we should not blame God, if we fail to prosper. Shalom!
