When Jesus was on earth, He once made a crucial statement to the Jews that believed in him, saying to them as seen in the book of John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Also in John 8:36, Jesus said, So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. In other words, our real liberty in life anchors on our truly knowing and operating on the truth, that is, our knowledge of the truth.
This is worthy of note to say that we are living in an era when falsehood seems to be triumphing over the truth, as many people are now celebrating falsehood more than the truth.
That is to say, the Biblical truth is the truth, no matter how highly placed any person is who is denying it is. No wonder Apostle Paul was bold to say in Romans 3:4 saying “God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;
In his life, most of us claim to be free, but we are not truly free indeed. For that reason, some suffer tremendously at the hands of the devil, whose attacks on mankind are to prevent them from having true knowledge and understanding that can set them free.
When we talk about being free indeed, we are referring to being free in our Spirit, Soul, and Body. That was the mission of Jesus on earth, as the gospel is for the total man.
In any area of our life that in which we lack true knowledge and understanding, the devil will surely capitalize on such ignorance to buffet us in that area.
It is for that reason that you see wonderful and sincere Christians who have the knowledge of how to live in the spirit. You will see such Christians living holy and sanctified lives, but they are living in abject poverty because they lack the understanding of God’s provision for their finance.
Some have the knowledge and understanding about God’s provision and are swimming in affluence, but may be suffering one affliction or the other because they lack the knowledge and understanding about God’s provision for their divine health.
Such people, the devil are having free days tormenting them in their bodies while some, it is their emotions that are under attack. I am talking from experience as I was once a victim myself as some years ago, I was a regular customer to the doctors.
I started having breathing space in battling with the devil over my health when my eyes of understanding got opened while listening to one of the messages of Bishop David Oyedepo.
In that message, Bishop David Oyedepo expounded Colossians 1:13 which says that Christ hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Coming back to the words of Jesus to the Jews, He told them that “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
From the words of Jesus, we must abide in him and his word before we can be in a position to know the truth, which in turn shall make us free.
The problem with lots of people is that they are lazy to go back to the word of God that could truly make them free. Rather, they ran from one man of God to another man of God in search of deliverance.
Some so-called men/women of God are not helping the matter. They are quick to demonstrate the power and anointing of God in them by casting out every unclean spirit from individuals that present themselves for deliverance.
What happens is that unclean spirits leave the individuals at the place of deliverance, but will go and wait for the person at the entrance of the gate of his or her house and jump back into the person upon his/her return.
If we wish therefore to be totally free indeed, then in addition to submitting ourselves before higher men /women of God for deliverance, we must sit down and soak ourselves with the word of God.
Receiving knowledge and understanding is even one way to know or identify true men/women of God. True men/women of God are not solely the persons that offers you deliverance or give you accurate prophecies.
Rather, true men/women of God are called by God, and prophet Jeremiah 3:15 reveals their identity. According to the above verse, God said, “and I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding”.
True me/women of God are known by being able to feed you with knowledge and understanding of the word, and it is by this knowledge and understanding that shall truly set us free indeed and maintains our freedom.
I observe that whenever any man is empty of the word of God, he/she will be lacking the presence of God, and that enables the devil to come in to attack the person. What the devil does is try to ensure that we are empty of the word and the presence of God.
Please know one thing, the worst thing you could allow happening to you is to allow yourself to be empty of the word and the presence of God.
It is for that reason, the devil is using his agents to try to cause you to be offended in men/women God had positioned to feed you with knowledge and understanding. I wish that we should be conscious and open our eyes.
