This is the second part of our discussion of the topic “if I be a man of God”. I really hope that you have read part one for a better understanding. Please GO HERE to read part one.
In part one, we saw how a prophet of God provoked the reaction of heaven by the words, “if I be a man of God!”. I that incident, Elijah roasted with fire 102 soldiers the came to arrest him.
We equally saw how Moses commanded the ground to open, which swallowed Korah and the rest of his rebellious group and then closed up.
In this segment, we shall continue to look at more instances of negative utterances of prophets of God that were dangerous to the people such utterance was spoken to.
The book of 2 Kings 2:23-24, gave the record of how Elisha went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up, by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
Incidentally, Elisha got provoked, and he turned back, looked at those children, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
In another instance, still with Elisha, there was a severe famine in Samaria, but Elisha spoke in 2 Kings 7:1-2 saying, “Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus, saith the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
However, the country’s minister of Agriculture answered the man of God, and said, Behold, the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? Elisha replied and spoke to him, saying, “Behold, thou shalt see with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof”. The spoke words of Elisha came to pass, as in 2 Kings 7:17.
And the king appointed the lord on whose hand, he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
In another instance and still, with the same Elisha, his manservant Gehazi messed up by going behind to collect a gift from Naaman who was healed of leprosy which Elisha rejected. See 2 Kings 5.
However, in 2 Kings 5:27 Elisha cursed Gehazi saying to him, The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
Someone may argue that all this happened in the Old Testament that we are in the New Testament, the era of the grace of God. Perhaps what happened in Act 13:6-11 will help convince you that a similar thing happened in the New Testament.
In the above bible passage, when the apostles had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-Jesus:
The said sorcerer was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul and desired to hear the word of God.
But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness, and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
I really wish to point out that you are making a grave mistake in joining to mock or lie against men and women of God because a similar thing could happen to you if they happen to make negative utterances against you.
A particular case that comes to mind was about the lady comedian called Ada Jesus. That lady thought that it is business as usual as she made videos in which she falsely accused a prophet of God by the name of Odumeje.
The prophet in anger made some negative utterances against her and soon after a girl of 23 years old was struck with a stroke. While still battling with stroke, she equally had kidney disease.
The said Ada Jesus is now history as she is long rotten in the grave. Some may argue, saying how am I sure that it was the utterances of Odumeje that were responsible for her calamity?
Please, I pray that you don’t wait to find the answer by being the next victim yourself. It is for that reason that I pity the man that calls himself Mathias that is falsely confronting the prophet of God, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.
You will recall that prophet Jeremiah spoke, but Mathias should thank his God that the prophet did not finish his sentence before he came to himself and diverted, saying that he should remember there is the police.
Even though the prophet did not make any negative utterances against him, the said Mathias is so insignificant for Men of God to answer him as he challenged them to.
Meanwhile, and please mark my word, Mathias has touched the tail of a tiger and definitely will be consumed unless he runs for his dear life and go and apologize to the prophet and ask for his forgiveness.
If he fails to do so, even though I am not a prophet of doom, yet I will tell you that he is a walking corpse as he had dug his own grave.
Not only him because the book of Proverbs 11:21 warned, saying, Though hand joins in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Also, Proverbs 19:5 and 19 have to say, A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
Finally, please heed this warning of Proverbs 29:1 which says, He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Also, 2 Chronicles 36:16 says, But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. A word is enough for the wise. Shalom!
