The book of Ezekiel 34:26 said something about showers of blessing, “I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing.
From the above verse, it was God who promised showers of blessings to His people. If you therefore need or desire God’s showers of blessings, please join me as we sing stanza one of the hymn “showers of blessings”.
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
• Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
but for the showers we plead.

Yes, we all need or desire showers of blessings. Any man or woman, who lacks showers of blessing he/she will continue to struggle in life while men or women who the showers of blessings are upon their heads, they will surely have a great turnaround story in their lives.
However, these showers of blessing do not come upon a man in a platter of gold. That is to say that there are things we need to do to provoke it.
Those who have the understanding of what to do and are obedient in doing them are enjoying God’s bountiful showers of blessings.
Those who lack the understandings are far at the back backbiting those enjoying the showers of blessings. Are you enjoying the showers of blessings or are you among the backbiters?
One example of an individual that really provoked and enjoyed God’s showers of blessings in the Bible was Solomon.
The story can be seen in 1Ki 3:3-10 “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.
Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”
And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you;
You have continued this great kindness for him, and you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
From the story above, the showers of blessings Solomon enjoyed, he did something that provoked it. First, it was said that Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David.
Secondly, Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. I believe that it was the love Solomon had for the Lord that provoked his sacrifice of a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
As a result of the encounter with God, look at the result as can be seen of what was said of Solomon in 1king 10:22-24 ” For the king had merchant ships at sea with the fleet of Hiram.
Once every three years the merchant ships came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and monkeys.
So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. Now all the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
So for me and you that equally desired God’s showers of blessings, we must learn from the actions of Solomon. First we must know God intimately.
Secondly, we must prove our love for Him. Thirdly our words and actions must please Him. Finally, our obedience to His words and commandments shows if we really know and love Him or not.
It is highly unfortunate that some people hate God, and yet they expect to enjoy His showers of blessings. They are romancing with the devil but expect God to shower them with His showers of blessings.
Some other people knew God and had relationships with Him; however, their problem is that they are so tightfisted.
They are so tightfisted Proverbs 11:24 “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty”
Also, Proverbs 11:25 equally says, the generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. NKJV. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. KJV
From the life of Solomon, no man can really enjoy lasting God’s showers without a liberal heart that is ready and willing to sacrifice. Are you ready to prove God as to provoke Him to release His showers of blessings?
We really need to provoke God as to shower us with His showers of blessings because it is God’s showers of blessings we need.
