God said something to Moses in Exodus 33:19b in which each time I read it I get lost in deep thought about God.
In that Exodus 33:19b, He said to Moses “and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy”.
Obviously, you and I, the reason we still have breath in our nostrils today is because of the mercies of God. However, some fail to realize or recognize that they are still breathing as a result of the mercies of God.
On the other hand, some people are consciously abusing these mercies of God by their utterances and lifestyles. While some even play God, spitting on the face of God as if they owe their life.
In the Bible, Pharaoh the King of Egypt once bragged and played God. In Exodus 5:2 he said, “And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD; neither will I let Israel go”.
When God showed up in Egypt with plagues which cumulated in the death of firstborn, Pharaoh was quick to release the people of Israel.
The book of Romans 3:17-18 recounted what happened in Egypt, “For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
Also, In Daniel 3:15 King Nebuchadnezzar once played God and boasted when he said, “and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands.”
When God decided to show up as Daniel 4: 33 puts it, “That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen;
his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
Verse 34 said “And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever:
For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation.
The once proud and arrogant Nebuchadnezzar had to confess in verse 35 after God had dealt with him. He confessed, “All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;
He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, “What have You done?”
In our present-day society, there are many people who found themselves in the position and corridors of power and authority, both political and money powers. Such people are playing god as if they owe their own lives.
Some had consciously sold their souls to the devil and are doing everything to draw many souls to hell with them while some are ignorantly following them blindly.
As said earlier, we still have some free air in our nostrils as a result of the mercies of God. King Solomon the writer of Ecclesiastics said in Ecclesiastics 8:11-12 which said, “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
He, further said, Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.
Moreover, King David said in Psalm 103:8 “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy”. Yes, God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy” but don’t join to abuse the mercies of God.
The cry of mercy is one of the quickest prayers God hears and answers. It is a fact when the Almighty God decides to show you mercy, His grace and divine favors follow.
Please ensure that you provoke the sure mercies of God and not the wrath of God. Shalom!
