Welcome to the year 2020. For us to cross over from 2019 to this year 2020 still breathing is evidence that God had not finished with us. The year 2019 was an awesome year for some people while some, 2019 was not a good year.
In other words, some ended the year 2019 in a good not while others ended the year in a sag note. However, irrespective of how your last year 2019 ended, it is no guarantee that the year 2020 will end the same way even though how you ended the year determines how you start the New Year.
In other words, there are some who ended the last year in a sad note, meaning that they must take drastic actions or the year 2020 will still end the same way other years ended perhaps on a sad note.
This is because as Bishop David Oyedepo rightly puts it, it is foolishness to be repeatedly doing the same thing and yet expect to get a different result. If you keep on with the mistakes you made last year, what happened last year could repeat itself.
That is to say, in other to get a different result this year; we must learn to do certain things differently by affecting changes in certain areas especially certain areas of our lives.
If therefore making this year 2020 a memorable and glorious year for you and your family, definitely the first thing you need to do is to engage the Almighty God to roll away the reproach of last year off your shoulders.
Obviously, the reason some did not make it or get married or get pregnant in 2019 was a result of been clothed with the garment of reproach. As long as such garment of reproach is on them, this year 2020 is already determined for them.
However, I wish to assure you, that God is willing to roll away that reproach off your shoulders this year if you will allow him and get him to do it.
Moreover, it is necessary to get God to roll away such reproach very early the year so that you will join the rest to celebrate in this year 2020.
It is the reproach on you that causes people to hate and reject you unnecessarily; it is that reproach that makes people disfavor you even when others are been favored.
For instance, as a man, you are intelligent, hard-working but you are stagnated in life because every opportunity passed you by because your destiny helpers are not willing to look at your direction at all.
Or you are a lady, pretty to look upon and as well hardworking but men are never looking at your direction to talk about marriage. Other ladies far less your beauty are all getting married.
If you are experiencing such, please you are clothed with the garment of reproach which must be rolled of your shoulder if you are to make any head way this year 2020.
We shall be taking our lesson from the Bible of what happened in Joshua in chapter 5. In that book of Joshua chapter 5, after God parted River Jordan the children of Israel crossed over.
It was after the children of Israel crossed over River Jordan that the LORD said to Joshua, “Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time.”
So Joshua made flint knives for himself and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. So it was when they had finished circumcising all the people that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed.
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away from the reproach of Egypt from you.”
The first thing we must learn from the above story is that it is the Lord that rolls away reproach. Secondly, why is it that the reproach was rolled away only after they crossed Jordan?
Yes, we must cross over to God. We can’t be dinning and winning with the devil and expect God to embrace us in our iniquity. This is because God is of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity. Habakkuk 1: 13.
The significance of crossing over the River Jordan means the end of the possibility of returning over to Egypt. This means that we must be willing to break tie with the devil with all his sinful pleasure and as well burn the bridge behind us as never to go back.
After the people of Israel crossed over Jordan, God demanded from Joshua to circumcise the people of Israel which Joshua did. Circumcision wasn’t palatable but very painful for the people.
As for us, what God requires from us is what Deuteronomy 10:16 says, “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.
Obviously, cutting off with our sinful pleasures may not be easy but God demand it from us if we want Him to roll our reproach away from our shoulders which is the prize we have to pay.
After our circumcision and God rolls away our reproach, it means that we are starting life anew. The next is to do what Jotham did in 2Chronicles 27:6 “So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God”.
What are you saying? Are you ready and willing for God to roll away your reproach? I wish that you take a decision concerning what to do with your life this year or you allow the year to end up like the previous years.
