While Jesus was on earth, he made a profound statement in Mathew 16: 18 saying, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
In the above passage, Jesus declared that he will build his church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Yes, while this is so, in reality the level of devastation that the devil is doing to the church may make one to start doubting the statement of Jesus.
Yes, I said this because many saints of God are today toils in the hands of the devil as they have victims and casualties of spiritual warfare and doing some unimaginable things.
Some, the problem is that they failed to realize that they are in spiritual warfare. For others, they are using carnal weapons to fight this battle.
They are using carnal weapons to fight this battles while Paul said in 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 saying, for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
A greater number of saints who are victims and casualties in this spiritual warfare are those whose major problem is that apart from their using carnal weapons to fight this battle, they also failed to put on the whole armor of God.
For that reason, they were left defenseless while fighting this battle resulting in their falling victims and casualties of the spiritual warfare.
The Apostle Paul while writing to the Corinthians on what is regarded as the prison epistle, he enumerated or illustrated these whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:13-16.
In this segment of our discussion therefore, we shall be examining these whole armor of God. Paul started in verse 10 by saying, finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
That is to say if we are to survive in this spiritual warfare, we must first and foremost be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
Being strong in the Lord is very important because some are relying on an arm of flesh. That is the reason they are victims and casualties in this warfare..
Paul in verse 11 gave us the reason we should put on the whole armors of God saying, “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”.
One obviously reason that many saints of God ended up being victims and casualties in this spiritual warfare is because they failed to decode the wiles of the devil and for that reason were unable to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Their inability to decode or stand against the wiles of the devil, made them allow the devil to mess them up. One of the major wiles of the devil had to do with the so-called entertainments particularly enjoyment of $exual pleasures.
Some people thought that they are enjoying while in actual sense they are being destroyed. Many destinies have been destroyed in their pursuit of pleasure especially $exual pleasures.
Moreover, some saints of God become victims and casualties b3cause they are ignorant of their real enemy they were fighting against.
Paul said in verse 12 saying, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
If you don’t know your enemies, you will never be in position to confront them, or the weapon to use against them. We can never win enemies we are not able to confront.
In addition, according to Paul in verse 13 he said that we are therefore to take up the whole armor of God that we may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
