One great event that changed the world was the death of Jesus on the cross. Immediately Jesus gave up the ghost, the following happened: the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, Mathew 27:51-52.
The record of Mathew 27:54 was clear, “So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
Jesus died on the cross to pay the prize for our sins which was the first great event. On the third day he rose from the dead which was the second great event.
After his resurrection from the dead, the next or third great event was his ascension to heaven. The book of Acts 1:9-11 recorded it thus: “Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
Who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
So the 4th great event will be the great catching away or the rapture as it is called, which is the second coming of Christ to receive his own. From Bible records, only the redeemed has the hope of receiving him.
However, it is not all the redeemed but those who are prepared as heaven is a prepared place for the prepared people. Jesus himself said something in Mathew 7:21-23 “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
If the warning of Jesus Christ is anything to go by. then every redeemed of God which I call saints of God should consciously give heed to his warning as recorded in Luke 17 and Mathew7.
By the warning of Jesus as regards the end time events, it is obvious and definitely that anyone who misses heaven will definitely not miss hell.
This post is not about the Christian eschatology but to point us to Christian eschatology as we are witnessing today, almost all that Christian eschatology said must definitely happen before his return of Jesus the second time.
It is unfortunate that many of the redeemed of God no longer believe that Jesus is coming back again.
The book of Luke 17:26-27 equally says, “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man(Jesus):
“They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Jesus also made reference also about Lot in Luke 17:28, “Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, and they built;
“But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. We really need to remember Lot especially what happened to Lot’s wife.
Will what happened to Lot’s wife happen to you? Lot’s wife was redeemed but later perished with the rest of people of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you miss rapture, you will definitely not miss hell. Be wise and be ready for the rapture. Shalom!
