When Jesus was on earth, he talked about giving us the keys of the kingdom in Mathew 16:19 “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
In this life, therefore, some are literally in possession of these keys which made them be living an abundant life while some are in possession of some keys, but these keys are not the right or relevant keys to lose or bind.
For others, they have no keys at all, so they are never in a position to lose or bid and as such are victims or casualties of life as the devil uses them to play football.
As said above, some are in passion of several keys, but wonder why they could not be living the abundant lives, binding and losing at will. To Such people, their major problem is that the several keys they possess are not the right key, as each door has specific keys that will open them.
In Luke 11:52, Jesus explained to us the meaning of these keys. “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”
From the words of Jesus, the key is knowledge. Any man or woman who lacks knowledge is limited in life. No wonder even God lamented in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
God also lamented in Isaiah 5:13 saying, “Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
Even though knowledge is the key, but knowledge alone cannot open or lock any door on its own. That is the reason Solomon the wisest being ever lived mentioned the two twin sisters of knowledge. The two twin sisters are wise and understanding.
So we have knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. No wonder Solomon said in Proverbs 4:7 saying, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Please the three works together, and we must possess the three if we are ever going to live the abundant life. We must consciously go for knowledge. However, we must go beyond getting knowledge to getting an understanding based on the knowledge we have.
It is unfortunate that some have knowledge, but lack the understanding which makes such knowledge ineffective. For instance, we have the knowledge that electricity powers our appliances.
However, such knowledge profits us nothing if we lack the understanding of how to connect to electricity and plug our appliances before they can be powered for us to make use of them.
Another illustration, we have the knowledge that we can get information from the news broadcast from a radio station if we get a transistor radio. However, getting a transistor radio will never give us the information we desire.
That is to say, we must go beyond getting the transistor radio to having the understanding of how to power the transistor radio and turn to the right channel before we can get the news information.
Please, what many regards as knowledge is the information we gathered. So the way it goes, we gather information and decode the information, which leads us to have an understanding of the information.
It is the understanding of the information that leads to knowledge and the right application of the knowledge that will lead to wisdom. We can never have wisdom only because of the raw information we gathered or have.
End of part one; we will continue our discourse, in part two. So keep a date with us, it is a high time we take possession of the right keys of the kingdom. Shalom!
