The issue of tithe or tithing is perhaps the most controversial issue in Christendom today. Whenever the issue of tithe or tithing is mentioned, it always goes with lots of Controversies.
The major reasons why the above is so is ignorance. Psalm 82: 5”They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course”.
Those who have a true knowledge and understanding about the subject of tithe will continue to encourage you to pay your tithe to God while those who lack the understanding about tithe are quick to oppose paying tithe to God.
I say paying tithe to God because every believer is paying tithe but it depends on who you are paying the tithe to. Those who refuse to pay their tithe to God are surely paying it to the devil.
Those who pay their tithe to God go with blessings while the devil connects the tithe of those who refuse to give their tithe to God with an additional knock on their head.
Of a truth, during my university days under CU/NIFES Fellowship which I belong to then, they were teaching us the need to pay our tithe but the teaching did not make meaning to me and I never paid tithe then.
After graduation and went for my Youth Service, the Christian Corpers Fellowship I belong to then went beyond from encouraging us to pay tithe from our allowee coarsing us to pay our tithe. I was paying the tithe with burden just as many are paying today tithe with the burden.
At the end of my service year, I did not waste time to get paid employment. I was working and getting a salary but was not paying tithe to the church I attend then did not know the full meaning of tithe.
I am glad for the coming of Winners Chapel to my city because I immediately switched to Winners Chapel when it opened a branch in my city. I remember going to believer’s foundation school that day and the pastor taught us about tithe or tithing
That fateful day, the pastor asked five of us if we were paying tithe to God and we all answered no. He told us that it was not true that we are not paying tithe because even though we are not paying tithe to God, that the devil had been collecting our tithe from behind. He told us that we are all paying tithe, either to God or Satan.
I was shocked when he said that we are all paying tithe as I know you will be shocked to learn that you have been paying tithe to the devil even though you think that you have not been paying your tithe.
Many pastors and Christians that are opposed to paying tithe to God did not know or realize that the devil has been collecting their tithes in forms bills or certain expenditures.
Coming to how I came to have true knowledge and understanding of tithe. The pastor told us that the issue of tithe can only be understood not because somebody told us to pay or not to pay tithe but by experiencing the faithfulness of God or otherwise.
To do that, we need to prove God. The same way, I wish to let you know and realize that if you are a Christian and sincerely wish to know the truth about tithe, the truth that is not taught by any man or woman but the truth you prove yourself.
The pastor taught us from Malachi 3: 10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
The pastor taught us on the angle of proving God. According to the pastor, he said that God is ever faithful but before we should expect God to prove his faithfulness to us, that we must first of all play our own part faithfully.
To help us, the pastor asked us to get a very small diary and should start to record starting from the day we got our salary all expenditures and as well as income.
In other words, we should any day we receive income that we should record it as well as any day we make expenditures. We did that for three consecutive months and came to him after three months.
After the third month, he helped us calculate our tithe based on our salary and asked us to begin to remove and pay our tithe to God before we start recording other expenditures as before.
The pastor asked us that we can pay the tithe anywhere not only in Winners so that we don’t feel that Winners Chapel needed our money.
At the end of the third month, he called us together and told us that he is ready to refund us the amount of tithe we paid for that three months if we analyze and compare the three months we paid tithe and the three months we did not pay tithe.
He told us that after the analysis if we are better off the three months we did not pay tithe as compared to the three months we paid tithe. he told us that we should come for a refund of the money we paid as tithe.
THE RESULT OF OUR ANALYSIS: After our analysis, we compared the three months we did not pay tithe and the three months we paid tithe. The result of comparing the three months was amazing. The three months we paid tithe was better off compared to the three months we did not pay tithe.
In other words, the expenditures we had in the months we did not pay tithe were been far higher than the months we paid tithe. Some of us borrowed in the months we did not pay tithe while some had leftover amounts in the months we paid tithe.
The pastor then cautioned us that we should never say that we did not pay our tithe any month because we did pay tithe but it depends on whether it is God or it is Satan that collected our tithe.
If you are a born-again Christian, you are sure paying tithe but it depends on the person you are paying it to, whether to God or Satan.
What that proof did in my life was that since then, I needed nobody to encourage me to pay my tithe to God because my failing to pay it to God, the devil will collect them through the back door with a knock on my head.
Putting the whole issues together, I will be foolish to listen to anybody that preach to me that tithe is this or that because I am the person who stands to benefit more not even the place I paid the tithe to.
One thing I wish that it sinks into your subconsciousness is that you are paying tithe but it depends on the person that is collecting them either God or Satan. Paying it to God is far more beneficial because it goes with blessings while the devil collects the tithe even more than the tithe from you with an additional knock on your head.
