In this life and in our society today, wisdom and understanding are so paramount that without them, we can never be able to fulfill our destiny. In other words, we require wisdom and understanding in our day-to-day living, if we are to fulfill destiny.
Even Solomon the wisest king ever lived confirmed it by what he said in Proverbs 4:7 where he said, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all you’re getting, get understanding”.
The book of 2 Chronicles 1:10 gave us an insight into how Solomon got his wisdom. Solomon, in his encounter with God, asked God saying, “give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people that is so great”
The above encounter took place after Solomon provoked God through his many sacrifices. This made God pay him a supernatural visit. During that visit, as can be seen in 2 Chronicles 1:6-7.
And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it. On that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask! What shall I give you?”
What I am trying to bring out here is that the kind of wisdom we are referring to here is the wisdom from above. The book of James 3:17 described this kind of wisdom that we are talking about.
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy”.
Like it was also said of Solomon in 1Kings 4:29 “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the seashore.
Equally, 1 King 4:30 says, “And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
The second person Bible recorded that God gave wisdom was the man by the name Bezalel. In Exodus 31:1-3 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.” And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
It was equally said of the four Hebrew children as seen in Daniel 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
What I am saying is that this kind of divine wisdom does not come to anybody on a platter of gold, as we must first maintain a relationship with God before He can decide to release such wisdom for us.
The book of James 1:5 equally gives us a guide on how to get this kind of wisdom “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Obviously, this is the number one way of getting divine wisdom from God. We can see the second way of getting divine wisdom from the way Joshua got his own divine wisdom.
This can be seen from what happened in Deuteronomy 34:9 “And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses”.
From above, we can see that wisdom can be gotten or transferred by laying hands. A person God had impacted such wisdom can as well impact the wisdom on another person by the laying on of hands, as Moses did in the case of Joshua.
One other thing that is said of wisdom is as declared by Solomon in Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Also, Proverbs 15:33 says “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility”. In others, we must be humble and have the unreserved fear of God in our hearts if we expect to get this kind of wisdom from above.
One of the major benefits of wisdom is that first, it announces the person who possesses it. Like it was said of Solomon in 2 Chronicles 9:23 and all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.
It was repeated in 1 King 4:34 “and there came of all people to hear the Wisdom of Solomon, from all the kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom”.
Also, it was said of Daniel in Daniel 5:14 “I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you”. It was equally the wisdom of Daniel that made the king Belshazza seek for him.
Other benefits of possessing this divine wisdom: the book of Ecclesiastes 7:12 says, For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.
Also, the book of Proverbs 24:3 says, through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;
Ecclesiastes 7:19 says, Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten rulers of the city. Ecclesiastes 28:5 by your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches, And your heart is lifted because of your riches),”
Also, Proverbs 8:11 says, “For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. Proverbs 8: 15-16 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice and by me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
Solomon also said something about wisdom as seen in verse 17 which says, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me”. Verses 18-19 says, “Riches and honor are with me; yea, durable riches, and righteousness”.
My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver and verse 21 “That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
Seek for this wisdom, and it will enable you to fulfill your destiny, as well you will be glad if you get this wisdom. Shalom!
