In this life, there are people who by their actions ended up to be a victim of life instead of being a victor. While there are people who chose to be victors all their lives.
So this question, “Are you a victim or a victor in life?” is a question we really need to ask and answer to ourselves if we are to fulfill our destiny.
This is because there are people which by mere looking at them; you will observe that they are nothing but victims of life, while some refuse to be a victim but a victor in life.
Most of those who are victims of life are those the Bible described in Psalms 82:5-7 “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
I have said, ye are Gods, and all of you are children of the MostHigh. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes”.
When somebody who ought to have the knowledge the truth of the basic things of life, things that make for success in life.
But rather chose to walk on in ignorance, the person will sure end up a failure and a victim of life.
As said, there are many who are but victims in life and if you confront such people, some of them would marshal out a thousand and one reasons while they did not make it in life.
However, each time I read about one Nick Vujicic http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/about-nick/bio/
I came to the conclusion that nothing in this life should serve as an excuse for anyone to be a failure and a victim of life.
In the Bible, we shall look at some examples of people who were born great but ended up to be a victim of life.
One of such is Amnon which we can see in 2 Samuel 13. Here, Amnon was one of the sons of King David, a prince but could not fulfill his destiny.
He lost his life because of his action in raping his sister Tamar. He was a victim of life.
The problem with Amnon started because he had an inordinate affection for his sister Tamar. The same is the problem with some folks who are victims of life.
Some have inordinate affections, while some have uncontrollable appétit for $ex that ended up making them victims of life.
So, if you don’t want to be a victim of life, then you must control your emotion and never allow them to control you as well as insatiable urge for $ex.
Again look at what happened in India as reported by http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/
In that story, “A Father Chops off the hands of a 17-year-old accused of raping his seven-month-old daughter in India”
The young chap mentioned above became a victim of life because he could not control his $exual emotions. Why should a grown-up boy rape a baby less than a year old?
What of the wise man Ahithophel who was a victim in life?. This we can see the story in 2 Samuel 16.
It was said of Ahithophel in 2Samuel 16:23 “And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God. So was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom”.
But in 2Samuel 17:23 “And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died.
What made Ahithophel be a victim of life in hanging himself was nothing but pride. It was because his counsel was not accepted just for once, that made him go and hang himself.
In the same vein, if you fail to deal ruthlessly with pride in your life, it could as well cause you to be a victim of life by destroying you.
Now let see examples of those who are victors of life, and the first of such is Joseph as can be seen in the Bible. The story of Joseph started from Genesis 37 until Genesis 50.
One of the factors that made Joseph be a victor in life was that he had dreams, and he held tenaciously to that dreams no matter all odds until the dreams came true.
Secondly, he has the fear of GOD in him and that made him refuse the demand of his master’s wife to have affairs with her. He regarded having affairs with his master’s wife as a great wickedness and sin against God.
See Genesis 39:9 “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Until you resolve and dare to dream and hold on tenaciously to that dream as well as having a personal conviction to fear GOD as to live upright in all you do, you may be far from being a victor in life.
Again the story of Nick Vujicic as I mentioned earlier is a very good example of a person who refused to be a victim in life but chose to be a victor.
Nick Vujicic was born without limbs but rose to surmount all obstacles in life and become a public figure that is well known all over the world.
What is possibly your own excuse in life why you will be a victim of life instead of a victor in life?
Another good Bible example is Jephthah whose story can be seen in the books of Judges. It was said of Jephthah in Judges 11:1. “Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah”.
From the story above of Jephthah, he was the son of a harlot and the circumstance of his birth, ordinarily, could make him accept to be a victim in life.
But Jephthah refused to allow the circumstance of his birth to cause him to accept to be a victim of life.
Look at judges 11:2, “Gilead’s wife bore sons; and when his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out, and said to him, “You shall have no inheritance in our father’s house, and for you are the son of another woman.”
Jephthah was not allowed to partake of his father’s inheritance, yet he rose to be the king while none of his brother’s names was mentioned.
Like Jephthah, no matter the circumstances of your birth, even if you have no inheritance anywhere at all.
If you will trade with the talent God has given you, you will surely come out to be a victor in life.
Why should you be victims of life? Rather, choose to be a victor in life. Shalom!
