In our society today especially in Christendom, there are great controversies as well as claims and counter clams among the people of God.
For that reasons, some go by the title Arch Bishop or Bishop, some the title of apostle, senior prophet or prophets. While the rest majority the title of pastors. However, Irrespective of whatever title anybody goes with is not important but what is important is what 2 Timothy 2:19 said,
Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
That is to say, no matter the title anybody goes with, the question that begs for an answer is, “is that person known and called by God? To this end, if you claim to be known and called by God, are you a clean vessel unto the Lord, a vessel of honor for the Master’s use
The book of 2 Timothy 2:21 specified what anybody needs to do before the person can be a vessel unto honor. It says, “If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work”.
One unfortunate issue and tragedy is that there are many who claim to be called and work in the kingdom and go by big titles yet by omission and commission allowed themselves to be polluted vessels or a vessel of dishonor.
Please I am not referring to only ordained ministers of God but any form of worker in God’s vineyard, God expects us to be clean vessels unto the Lord, a vessel of honor for the Masters’ use.
As 2 Timothy 2:21 said, our first expectation is to purge ourselves and as well as depart from iniquity. This is very important because we are living in a dispensation that some men and women value their pleasure more than seeing the manifestation of God’s glory in their lives and ministries.
This steam from the fact that the devil wants is to defile and pollute us so as not to be clean vessels unto the Lord. Once we get defiled, he will clothe us with the filthy garment as he clothed Joshua the high priest in Zechariah 3:1-3.
The above verses said, and he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Apostle Peter admonished us on what to do as seen in 1 Peter 4:7 which says, “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. That is to say, we must be sober minded and watch unto prayer.
Moreover, Apostle Paul knowing that $exual immorality is one of the way the devil gets us defiled or polluted encouraged us to work towards our sanctification. He said in 1 Thessalonians 4:3 “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification that ye should abstain from fornication:
Also, the book of 1Timothy 1:19 equally said, “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck” and in 1Timothy 3:9 “Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience”.
Above all, Apostle Peter also encouraged us in 2 Peter 1:10 saying, “wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
In addition, Paul told us in Philippians 2:12b saying that we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.
Above all we need to do like Moses as recorded in Hebrew 11:25, who was said to have Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Moses, having dealt ruthlessly with sinful pleasure, he has the boldness to ask God Exodus 33:18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”
It is when we have purged ourselves and turn our back on pleasure of sin, refusing to defile ourselves in iniquity that we can have the boldness and expectation to see the manifestation of the glory of God in our lives.
Are you ready for the manifestation of the glory of God in your life and ministry or will you allow the devil to rub you of the glory of God by your embracing the pleasure of sin? The choice is yours. Shalom!
