It is said that “who we are today is the cumulative effect of our actions of yesterday” and “who we will be tomorrow is the cumulative effect of our actions today”.
And our actions are direct functions of the information available to us, which, if we receive and apply in our lives correctly, could lead to the fulfillment of our destiny in life.
We should be conscious of the type of information we are receiving and how they influence our lives. We should ask ourselves, the information we are receiving, how qualitative and informative are they?
Moreover, some gather lots of information, especially from the internet, but fail to apply the information in their lives, and that is why many are stagnant, going round in a cycle.
In this post, we shall be exploring how correct and adequate information received and applied, could bring about a positive turnaround in our lives. How correct or adequate information is received and applied could lead to our breakthroughs in life.
We shall be taking our lesson from the story of Naaman in the Bible, as can be seen in 2 Kings 5:1-14 “Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper”.
And the Syrians had gone out on raids and had brought back a captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman’s wife.
Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.”
And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel.”Then the king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.”
So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten changes of clothing. Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said, Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.
And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? Therefore, please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel with me.”
So it was when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes that he sent to the king saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.” Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house.
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”
But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.
“Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he says to you, ‘Wash and be clean?”
So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
From the above story, the original information released that led to the healing of Naaman was from a Maid, a slave girl for that matter,” And the Syrians had gone out on raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel.
She waited on Naaman’s wife. Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.”
Naaman received the information wholeheartedly, not considering that it came from a house girl. He went ahead to take action by relaying the information to the king, who accepted the information himself. The two as well as took action with respect to that information by writing a letter to the King of Israel.
Naaman then followed suit by coming in person to the land of Israel to receive his healing. When Naaman finally came to the prophet of GOD, look at what happened in verse 10.
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”
Naaman refused or rejected the message (information) from the prophet and turned to go back furiously (when you are not composed or coordinated, you cannot receive or interpret information correctly.
It was the persuasion from the servants of Naaman that made him change his mind about the information, as can be seen in verse 13
“And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he says to you, ‘Wash and be clean?”
Naman could not interpret the information very well, but his servants, (information you fail to interpret very well, and you may not utilize such information).
After the persuasion by the servants of Naaman, he then accepted and applied the information. That is why you share a post; GOD may use it to cause a turnaround in another person’s life.
I appeal to you to form the habit of sharing information, why not start with this post, I am expecting that after reading this post, you will share it.
The summary of this post, therefore, is that information could come from anybody, not minding who the person is or his or her status in life.
Remember, information well received and applied, GOD could use it to bring a breakthrough in your life.
