If an atheist had made the statement that you don’t need God to be successful, it would have been more pardonable. However, for a supposedly “pastor” or a man that calls himself a pastor to say that you don’t need God to be successful, is an indication that something is wrong somewhere with that man.
The above statement “that you don’t need God to be successful in life is one of the false statements by Sunday Adelaja or DSA as he is fondly called. What is worrisome is that the said DSA was bold while making that false statement and was bragging in the video where he made that statement saying that he had done what no other pastor or man had done on earth.
In reacting to his statement, it is pointless arguing with DSA, whether it is true that he had achieved what no other man had achieved, rather, what Sunday Adelaja was trying to prove is that whatever he feel that he had achieved was achieved without God’ help.
For the avoidance of doubt, here is the video link where he made the statement so that it will not appear I am making a false allegation against him. The first video was captioned, “Why You Don’t Need God To Be Successful” – Sunday Adelaja. The second video is captioned, “why you don’t need to believe in God to be successful”
Before we go ahead to consider or react to the above statements of Sunday Adelaja, it is necessary to know the person of Sunday Adelaja and the angle he was speaking from.
This is because of what Jesus said in Luke 6:45. In that verse, it says, “a good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
That false statement of Sunday Adelaja is proof that he has a spiritual problem and no longer a pastor in the gospel sense because the spirit of God is no longer dwelling in him. That is one thing that is worrisome and pitiable about the current spiritual state of Sunday Adelaja.
I said this because the same Sunday Adelaja, who was quoted saying that you don’t need God to be successful or that “You don’t need to believe in God to be successful” is the same man that wrote the book some years ago that is captioned, “money-won’t-make-you-rich-God’s-principles-for-true-wealth-prosperity-and-success
In other words, the knowledge about the current state of Sunday Adelaja is of paramount importance because of those who may still look up to Sunday Adelaja as a pastor. Sunday Adelaja, who was once a Christian but his pride and arrogance made the spirit of God leave him totally.
He wrote that book some years ago when he was still in faith and the spirit of God dwelling in him. However, after the spirit of God left him, he became shallow without any element of spirituality in him. That is the reason his current utterances are contradictory to his statements when he was in faith.
I will therefore wish that you help reconcile these two statements? In his book which he wrote some years earlier, he captioned it, “God’s principles-for-true-wealth-prosperity-and-success” and some years later the same DSA is quoted saying “why you don’t need God or believe in God to be successful”.
Please that is to prove to you that Sunday Adelaja has no more spiritual inclination with God, he currently is an empty vessel but he is currently using his charisma and oratory to deceive his gullible followers who are still hailing him on YouTube.
Another thing worth knowing about Sunday Adelaja is that the council of ministers in Ukraine as far back as 2008 made a statement describing Sunday Adelaja as not a pastor in the gospel sense. Rather, DSA was an ordinary motivational speaker and still a motivational speaker and not a gospel preacher.
Being a motivational speaker is not the issue, or that is anything wrong with being a motivational speaker, rather, what is wrong with Sunday Adelaja is that he lacked spiritual insight in the things of God, yet he tries to prove that other men of God preaching the true gospel as wrong or fake pastors.
Another major problem with Sunday Adelaja is that he can use his charisma and oratory to convince his audience that by believing in yourself, that you are able to touch the moon with your bare hands while as he could never tell you how to go about it.
Please you should realize that Sunday Adelaja is such a proud and arrogant man, and the book of proverbs 16:5 warned, saying, “ The LORD hates everyone who is arrogant; he will never let them escape punishment. GNB.
Also, the book of Proverbs 16:5 warned, saying, “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand joins in hand, he shall not be unpunished”.
The said Sunday Adelaja, because he lacked spirituality of any sort, talk less of spiritual insights, his teachings now are greatly abhorred by many people, both in Ukraine and on YouTube as they avoid listening to him on YouTube and Facebook where his so-called ministry is currently based.
It may interest you also to know that it was due to Sunday Adelaja’s notorious activities on the pulpit that made the nine leaders of evangelical churches in Ukraine on 28th December 2008 sign a statement in which they, among other things, dissociated themselves from Sunday Adelaja and his activity.
They accused Sunday Adelaja of trying to create a cult of personality and accused him of using methods and activity based on self-advertisement, exaggeration of personal merits.
Having given you the background of the person or personality of Sunday Adelaja, we shall then take a look at his false statement that “you don’t need God to be successful” and reconcile it with what the Bible says.
In the first instance, this question needs an answer, “is it possible to claim to be successful without silver and gold? This is because the book of Haggai 2:8, God clearly declared, saying that ”the silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts”.
If silver and gold belonged to God, then it is foolish to think that one can get it without God. Lest I forget, Sunday Adelaja may not be referring to success in the kingdom way, but the worldly and satanic success that can be gotten without God.
Also, in this kingdom, is it possible to claim to be successful without wealth as in the book of Deuteronomy 8:18 God declared, saying, “but thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
In addition, the book of 1 Samuel 2:7 says, “He makes some people poor and others rich; he humbles some and makes others great”. True success only comes from God in the form of God’s blessings. Without the blessings of God, you may succeed, but with many sorrows.
It is only the blessings of the Lord that maketh rich and added no sorrow. Please this is where we end part one, we will continue our discussion in part two next. Shalom!
