Despite the fact that most people in our society today are swimming in iniquity, and ungodliness, doing abominable things. Nevertheless, Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, as seen in 1 Timothy 3:16.
He said, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.
These days, our society, even views or sees people that choose to live godly as people that are anti-social. Yes, even some countries are bringing outlaws that undermine living godly, laws that promote ungodliness of the highest order.
For instance, what do you say of a 71-year-old Pastor who was Arrested After a Sermon on Marriage? The incident happened in a north London church in the United Kingdom, who was arrested on April 23.
The police claimed that the arrest of the above pastor was made under the United Kingdom’s Public Order Act for allegedly making “homophobic comments” during a public sermon.
However, the pastor told a podcast host Thursday that he was preaching about the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman at the time of his arrest.
But local police said they’d received numerous complaints that Sherwood had been making bigoted remarks directed toward gay people, which the anonymous caller described as abusive or insulting worship.
What I am trying to establish here is that many law enforcement agents and judges have sold their souls to the devil and are doing the bidding of the devil, persecuting anybody that wishes to live godly.
For that reason, these judges and policemen are giving judgment to compel people to obey man-made laws rather than obey God’s laws as given in the Bible, as they are arresting people that are not following them to be ungodly.
While this is so, Paul urged us in 1 Timothy 6:11 saying, “But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness”.
The reason we are to pursue godliness is that godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. We can see that in 1 Timothy 4:8
The book of 1 Timothy 4:8 equally says, “For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come”.
When we talk about pursuing godliness, it is the same as pursuing righteousness or holiness. Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 3:10 said, “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings”.
Moreover, the book of Psalms 5:12 equally said, “For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor, You will surround him as with a shield”.
Also, Proverbs 3:32-33 says, “For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright. The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just”.
Talking about godliness, apostle Paul also wrote to Titus as seen in Titus 2:11-12 which says, “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age”, NK JV
To be able to live godly in this world, Paul warned us in 1Timothy 6:5 to avoid totally Perverse disputing of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Also, the book of 1Ti 6:11 says, “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness”.
In addition to fleeing these things, Paul warned us in 2 Timothy 3:7-8 to avoid men/women that always learning and are never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The apostle Paul mentioned the example of Jannes and Jambres that resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;
As seen in 2Timothy 3:5, what Paul was trying to point out to us is to totally avoid men and women who are having any form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, which he said that from such we should turn away.
This is so because there are many sorcerers that parade themselves as pastors even though they are men/women of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith.
I said this because many are victims and casualties at the hands of these sorcerers that parade themselves as pastors. This is exactly as seen in Acts 8:9 which says, but there was a certain man, called Simon, which before time in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
Also, to be able to live godly in this world, Paul warned that we should never allow ourselves to be carnal because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:7-9
Moreover, Paul equally urged us in Romans 12:2 saying, do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In closing, I wish to state clearly that godliness is really profitable as it pays handsomely to live a godly life irrespective of abominations going on in our society today.
