This is the second part of our discussion on the topic,” You Shall Stand Before Kings And Before Prominent Men And Women”. In this segment, we shall be looking at instances of men and women that came from a humble background, yet stood before kings.
This is the continuation, so please ensure that you have read part one for a better understanding of the topic. If you have not read part one, please GO HERE to read part one. In continuation, I wish to point out that our standing before kings is not our making entirely. There are things we need to do, and there are things that only God does for us.
In view of this, we shall look at examples from the Bible to show that in addition to our personal responsibility God’s favor does the rest for us. It is God’s favor as a virtue that enables any man or woman to stand before kings and before prominent men and women.
When any man or woman activates or is clothed with the oil of God’s favor in his or her life, he or she is sure to stand before kings and before prominent men/women.
The first person we shall be looking at is Daniel, and we can see the record in Daniel 1:9 which says, “Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. NK JV
For a better understanding, we need to look at some examples of some men and women that stood before kings even though they came from poor backgrounds.
The first we shall look at is Daniel, who was one of the captives from Israel that were taken to Babylon. The said Daniel because the hands and the wisdom of God were upon him, he stood before kings as he was sought after by kings.
During the time of king Belshazzar as can be seen in Daniel 5:2. Even though the king did not know Daniel in person before then, the queen did know Daniel. When, therefore, there was a problem before king Belshazzar, the handwriting on the wall.
It happened that as a result of that problem, (the handwriting on the wall) which all the king’s wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation.
The queen, who knew Daniel before then, what Daniel can do, came to the banquet hall and spoke to the king, saying, “O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance change.
There is a man in your kingdom who is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father — your father the king — made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers.
Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation.”
After the queen spoke, Daniel was summoned to appear or stand before the king. True to the words of the queen, after Daniel was brought to the king, he took care of the problem by interpreting the handwriting on the wall.
Also, after the death of King Belshazzar and king Darius, who took over after king Belshazzar, which can be seen in Daniel 6:1-3. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom;
And of the three governors, Daniel was one of them, and the satraps might give account to them (to the governors) so that the king would suffer no loss.
It was said in verse 3 that this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king gave thought to set him over the whole realm.
One thing that was said of Daniel that made him be distinguished among the governors was that an excellent spirit was in him. We can never possess an excellent spirit and will not be sought after by kings.
Yes, it is an excellent spirit that makes any man/woman to be distinguished in life. You see the need to seek after God because an excellent spirit comes from him. The second person we shall look at is Esther. The said Esther was one of the captive girls from Israel. She was at the same time an orphan, a village girl to say the least.
The book of Esther 2:15 gave us the record, saying, “Now when the turn came for Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king. She requested nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her.
You see, the only quality Esther had at that time of her selection was that she had kept herself and was one of the virgins. It was her being a virgin that made it possible for her to enter the competition for selection as a queen.
Because the hand of God was upon Esther, see what was said about her in Esther 2:17 which says,” The king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.
As a lady that desires to be married to the king, the starting point is to prove that you are still a virgin and not a prostitute. It is being a virgin that could make God clothe you with divine favor.
Once you are clothed with God’s favor, men will see and admire you, thereby seeking for your hands in marriage. This is the end of part two, we shall continue in part three, so keep a date with us. Shalom!
